HireLogic vs Syrinx: a cloud alternative for UK hire businesses
Classic Syrinx no longer appears as a product for new buyers on Point of Rental's public site. Point of Rental now markets Syrinx 365; HireLogic gives independent UK hire businesses one cloud product, published pricing, no long-term contract and a migration route already used by Syrinx customers.
In short
For classic Syrinx users, Point of Rental's published route is a move to Syrinx 365, either cloud-hosted or locally hosted. HireLogic offers a clean break: one browser-based product, a published price list and no long-term contract.
The tables below separate classic Syrinx from Syrinx 365, name companion apps where they matter and compare only claims that Point of Rental publishes on its own pages.
HireLogic vs Syrinx, side by side
Eight practical differences for a business deciding whether to remain on classic Syrinx, migrate to Syrinx 365 or move to HireLogic.
Pricing visibility
HireLogic
Everything is published: £99 a month for the base package including 2 users, £15 a month per extra user, £25 a month per optional module and a one-off £250 website setup fee. Prices exclude VAT.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Point of Rental's UK pricing page publishes no figures. It directs buyers to "Get Pricing" and says pricing is based on each business's needs. No Syrinx or Syrinx 365 price or range was published as at 12 August 2026.
Deployment and upgrade path
HireLogic
One cloud product running in the browser, with nothing for the customer to host or install.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Classic Syrinx no longer appears as a product for new buyers on Point of Rental's public site. Its published route is Syrinx 365, which introduces another hosting decision and an in-family migration. Point of Rental says functionality is being translated "module by module" from the "legacy system".
Ownership and product focus
HireLogic
A UK company building one product specifically for independent tool and equipment hire businesses.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Syrinx was built in the UK, but since 2016 it has been owned by US-based Point of Rental and sits within a broader international product portfolio.
Evaluating before you buy
HireLogic
A demo using your own products and workflows, or begin entering products and customers yourself before the team follows up to complete onboarding.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
The published Syrinx 365 route is a booked demo and tailored pricing enquiry. Point of Rental did not publish a self-service trial as at 12 August 2026; its advertised three-month-free promotion is conditional on a 12-month contract and is not a trial.
Interface and ease of use
HireLogic
Our view, so treat it as ours: HireLogic looks and behaves like a modern web app, with clean, uncluttered screens and familiar browser interactions designed to be picked up quickly by counter, yard and office staff.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Classic Syrinx is Windows-based software. Point of Rental describes Syrinx 365 as a "modern experience" with a "new front-facing UI". In our view, that is an acknowledgement that the classic-Syrinx interface belongs to an older generation of desktop software; getting Point of Rental's newer interface means moving to another product in its range.
Migration and onboarding
HireLogic
Guided import reviewed before loading; a straightforward product list can be live in under 48 hours, with training and support included. When migrating customers from Syrinx, we have transferred product and pricing records from Syrinx exports and imported customer records through their accounting packages.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Point of Rental says its team guides data migration and onboarding, but it does not publish a fixed migration timetable; it says smaller launches may take days while larger rollouts take longer.
Contract terms
HireLogic
Monthly, with no long-term contract. Cancel at any time.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Point of Rental does not publish standard contract terms for Syrinx or Syrinx 365. One advertised promotion makes three free months conditional on a 12-month contract, but that does not establish the term for every customer.
Business fit
HireLogic
Built specifically for independent tool and equipment hire businesses and their counter, yard, workshop and delivery workflows.
Syrinx and Syrinx 365
Point of Rental positions its UK hire-management system for complex, multi-branch operations as part of a wider international product range.

Looking for a Syrinx alternative? Start with the decision you actually face
HireLogic is equipment hire software for independent businesses that want a clean break from a legacy system without giving up the day-to-day hire workflow.
If your business already runs classic Syrinx, there are three real options: defer migration, move within Point of Rental to Syrinx 365, or choose a different product. Classic Syrinx no longer appears as a product for new buyers on Point of Rental's public site, and the company publishes no end-of-life date. Syrinx 365 is the product it now markets and offers existing users incentives to adopt.
Point of Rental says Syrinx 365 can be hosted locally or in the cloud and accessed through a browser. It also says functionality is being translated module by module from the legacy system. This is Point of Rental's in-family replacement route, not an independent alternative to the Syrinx product family.
HireLogic is the clean-break option. It is one cloud product for independent tool and equipment hire businesses, with one published price list, no product-tier or hosting decision and no long-term contract.
The interface is a practical reason to move, not a cosmetic extra. Our view is that HireLogic's clean web-app design is easier for a new starter to understand than classic Syrinx's Windows interface. Point of Rental's own description of Syrinx 365 as a "modern experience" with a "new front-facing UI" makes clear that a newer interface is part of its replacement product, too.
Price is the first difference you can test without a sales call. HireLogic publishes £99 a month including 2 users, extra users at £15 and optional modules at £25. Point of Rental publishes no Syrinx figure or range, so a pricing enquiry is required before you can compare total cost.
Migration is not hypothetical. When migrating customers from Syrinx, we have transferred product and pricing records from Syrinx exports and imported customer records through their accounting packages. We review the data before loading it and agree what should move before cutover.
- One cloud product, with no local-hosting decision
- A modern web interface designed to be picked up quickly
- Published pricing from £99 a month including 2 users
- Monthly agreement with no long-term contract
- Built for independent UK tool and equipment hire businesses
- A Syrinx migration route already used with real customer data

Last verified: 12 August 2026. Classic-Syrinx cells come from Point of Rental's live Syrinx App Enhancements page, its Power BI page, current integration announcements and its RSEA Hire and City Hire case studies. Syrinx 365 features are not silently substituted into this table.
Classic Syrinx and Syrinx 365 are not the same buying decision
The product history, from Point of Rental's own pages
Higher Concept Software built Syrinx in Reading. US-based Point of Rental acquired the company in July 2016, bringing Syrinx into a wider international product portfolio.
Point of Rental's material attributes classic-Syrinx functionality to a mixture of core software, companion apps, enhancements and integrations. These include online ordering, driver and workshop apps, route optimisation, document scanning, accounting transfers, electronic invoicing, payments, Power BI and a WebAPI. Point of Rental does not publish how those components are packaged or priced.
Point of Rental now presents Syrinx 365 as the public product route. Its pages describe a new front-facing interface and a choice of cloud or locally hosted deployment. Its product manager has described functionality being translated module by module from the legacy system, and its event promotion offers existing Syrinx users a discount on migration to Syrinx 365.
Staying on classic Syrinx defers migration without a published end-of-life date. Moving to Syrinx 365 keeps the same supplier and product family. Moving to HireLogic means one independent UK cloud product, public prices and no long-term contract.
How we sourced this comparison
Last verified: 12 August 2026. Every objective claim about Syrinx, Syrinx 365 or Point of Rental came from Point of Rental's own live pages: its UK pricing and Syrinx 365 pages, acquisition and integration announcements, Syrinx App Enhancements and Power BI pages, and published customer case studies. No review sites or competitor comparison pages supply a table cell.
The main table separates classic Syrinx from Syrinx 365 wherever deployment or migration makes the distinction necessary. The feature table is classic-only: it uses sources that explicitly say Syrinx, including customer material that discusses Syrinx 365 separately. A current feature from a Syrinx 365 page is not silently attributed to classic Syrinx.
Point of Rental does not publish how the classic-Syrinx enhancements are packaged or priced. The feature table therefore says that a capability is published and names its companion app where relevant; it never says every capability is included as standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Syrinx cloud-based?
Classic Syrinx and Syrinx 365 need to be separated. Point of Rental now markets Syrinx 365, which it says can be deployed in the cloud or hosted locally and accessed through a browser. Its own product manager describes functionality being translated module by module from the legacy system. HireLogic is cloud only, with no locally hosted option.
Is classic Syrinx still supported?
Point of Rental has not published an end-of-life notice for classic Syrinx, but it no longer appears as a product for new buyers on the public site. Current integration announcements show that the product remains in use, but Point of Rental's public material does not establish its support status or duration.
What is the difference between Syrinx and Syrinx 365?
Classic Syrinx is the older product that Point of Rental no longer publicly markets to new buyers. Syrinx 365 is its replacement route, with a new front-facing interface, browser access and cloud or locally hosted deployment. Point of Rental says functionality is being translated module by module from the legacy system and advertises migration incentives to existing Syrinx users.
How much does Syrinx cost compared with HireLogic?
HireLogic publishes its full UK price list: £99 a month including 2 users, £15 a month per extra user and £25 a month per optional module, plus a one-off £250 setup fee for the website module. Prices exclude VAT and there is no long-term contract.
Point of Rental's UK pricing page publishes no Syrinx or Syrinx 365 figures. It says pricing is based on each business's needs and asks you to submit a pricing enquiry. That was still the published position on 12 August 2026.
Can HireLogic migrate data from Syrinx?
Yes. When migrating customers from Syrinx, we have transferred product and pricing records from Syrinx exports and imported customer records through their accounting packages. We review the export before loading it, agree the field mapping and plan the cutover around the records the business actually needs.
Which is better, HireLogic or Syrinx?
For an independent UK tool or equipment hire business that wants one cloud product, published pricing, no long-term contract and direct migration help, we recommend HireLogic. Classic Syrinx is no longer publicly marketed to new buyers, while Syrinx 365 keeps you in the same vendor family with quote-gated pricing and a choice of hosting models.
Is HireLogic easier to use than classic Syrinx?
That is our judgement rather than a neutral fact, but yes: we think HireLogic's clean browser interface is easier for counter, yard and office staff to learn than classic Syrinx's older Windows interface. Point of Rental describes Syrinx 365 as a "modern experience" with a "new front-facing UI", so its own replacement route also treats interface modernisation as a reason to move beyond classic Syrinx. We can demonstrate common hire tasks using your own products so you can judge the workflow directly.
Does classic Syrinx have online ordering, workshop and driver tools?
Point of Rental advertises all three, but across classic Syrinx, companion apps and enhancements rather than a published all-in-one package. Its material also names route optimisation, accounting transfers, electronic invoicing, payments, Power BI and a WebAPI. It does not publish which package includes each component or what each one costs.
How was the classic-Syrinx feature table put together?
Each competitor cell comes from a Point of Rental page that explicitly names Syrinx. The strongest sources are its live App Enhancements and Power BI pages, current integration announcements and case studies describing established Syrinx installations. Syrinx 365 material is excluded from the classic feature cells. Where Point of Rental does not publish packaging or price, the table says so.
How current is this comparison?
Every Point of Rental claim was checked on its own published pages on 12 August 2026. Product positioning, promotions and packaging can change without notice, so the date appears under both tables. If you find something that has changed, tell us and we will update it.
