HireLogic vs Point of Rental: which fits your rental business?

Point of Rental has decades of history — and multiple products, two North American tiers, a choice of deployments, and no published pricing. HireLogic is one cloud product with every price published. Here is how the two compare on what their own pages support: pricing, packaging, and how you get started.

In short

HireLogic and Point of Rental are both equipment rental software, but they sell very differently. HireLogic is a single cloud product with every price published and guided onboarding included — live in under 48 hours, with training and support in the subscription. Point of Rental publishes no pricing and no self-serve trial, and splits its software across two North American tiers and a separate UK and European product — buying starts with a demo and a tailored quote.

The tables below compare the two on pricing, packaging, fit and onboarding — and, further down, feature by feature. Every Point of Rental entry is taken from their own published pages and dated, so you can check it yourself; where their pages publish nothing, the cell says so rather than guessing.

HireLogic vs Point of Rental, side by side

Ten rows. The right-hand column describes what Point of Rental publishes about itself on its own pages, not our view of their software — and where the two products are simply alike, the row says so.

Pricing: what is published

HireLogic

Everything, on our pricing page: $125 a month for the base package including 2 users, $25 a month per extra user, $35 a month per optional module, and a one-time $350 website setup fee if you take the e-commerce website. Prices exclude tax.

Point of Rental

No prices are published. Their pricing page offers "Get a Demo" and "Get Pricing", and their own FAQ answers the question directly: "Why don't you list all of your prices on the website?" — because, in their words, "our pricing is based on your needs". No figure or price range appeared anywhere on their site as of August 9, 2026 — so you cannot compare their cost with anyone's, including ours, until you have been through their sales process.

Pricing: how the packages are structured

HireLogic

A flat base package: $125 a month covers the system and 2 users, with accounting integrations included in the base package rather than sold separately. Extras are optional modules at a published price.

Point of Rental

Tailored per business: their pricing page says you "pay only for the features & users you need", that every plan comes with at least 2 users, and that you can add users as needed with volume discounts. What that costs is established through their sales process, not a published rate card.

Pricing: trying before you buy

HireLogic

A demo walked through with your own products and workflows — or start adding products and customers yourself, and a member of the team follows up within 24 hours to finish onboarding. No obligation.

Point of Rental

A booked demo is the published route in: the calls to action across their homepage, pricing and product pages are "Get a Demo", "Book a Demo" and "Get Pricing". No self-serve trial or free tier was published as of August 9, 2026 — there is no way to use the software, or price it, without entering their sales process.

Packaging: the product lineup

HireLogic

One product, one price list. Every HireLogic customer is on the same cloud software — there is no tier decision to make.

Point of Rental

Two rental management tiers in North America, plus companion products. Essentials is, in their words, "an easy-to-use, cloud-native software" that "easily handles the basics of rental without all the bells and whistles required by a full-service rental business"; Elite is "the most full-featured, well-supported rental software in North America". Alongside them sit POR One (mobile), eCommerce and other add-on products — and in the UK and Europe the company markets a different product again, Syrinx 365. Before you can compare prices, you first have to work out which of these you are buying.

Deployment: where the software runs

HireLogic

Cloud, only. HireLogic runs in the browser, so you sign in from any device with an internet connection — office, counter, yard or truck. There is nothing to install.

Point of Rental

A choice you make — and worth reading closely. The tier Point of Rental calls "cloud-native", Essentials, is the one its own page says handles "the basics of rental"; their most full-featured tier, Elite, is "available in cloud-hosted and self-hosted forms", so on Elite, cloud is one of two ways the product ships. The deployment decision, and its consequences, are yours to research.

Fit: who each is built for

HireLogic

Independent rental businesses — tool rental shops, equipment rental companies and the counter and yard workflows that go with them.

Point of Rental

Everyone. Point of Rental says it has spent 40+ years serving 5,000+ rental businesses of all sizes, from growing independents to enterprise-level operations, and positions Elite for complex, multi-branch operations. That breadth is real — and it is the opposite of a product shaped around one kind of business.

Ease of use

HireLogic

Our claim, so treat it as ours: HireLogic is built to be picked up without training — clean, uncluttered screens in the browser, designed for counter and yard staff, not system administrators. A demo on your own equipment will show you inside twenty minutes.

Point of Rental

Hard to judge from the outside: with no trial, the first time you can form your own view of the interface is inside a booked demo. Their pages describe Essentials as "an easy-to-use, cloud-native software"; Elite is "the most full-featured, well-supported rental software in North America". How that full feature set feels to use day to day is something you can only find out in their demo.

Onboarding: getting started

HireLogic

Guided from the first conversation, with the system live in under 48 hours for a straightforward product list. Your data import is reviewed before anything is loaded.

Point of Rental

Demo-led, with training, consulting, events and support offered once you are a customer. No implementation timeline and no data-migration service page were published as of August 9, 2026 — how long it takes to go live, and what moving your data involves, are questions their site does not answer.

Support and documentation

HireLogic

Included in the monthly subscription with no hidden costs — phone, email or live chat. And there are no support tiers to climb: from your first contact you are talking to someone who knows the whole system intimately, because the people who support HireLogic are the people who build it.

Point of Rental

Point of Rental describes Elite as the most "well-supported rental software in North America", and lists phone lines in the US, UK and Australia alongside email support. Its customer help center sits behind a login, so you cannot read their documentation before you buy — evaluating it, like everything else, means entering their sales process.

Accounting integrations

HireLogic

Included in the base package: HireLogic connects to QuickBooks, Xero and Sage 50, pushing invoices and payments into your accounts as the work happens.

Point of Rental

Also via integrations: their pricing FAQ names QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and AccountsIQ, so on approach this row is common ground. The difference is what it costs you: HireLogic's integrations are part of the published $125 base package, while Point of Rental publishes no price for anything, integrations included.

Last verified: August 9, 2026. Every entry in the right-hand column was read on Point of Rental's own published pages — point-of-rental.com's homepage, pricing page, Essentials and Elite product pages, company and contact pages, and its UK pages — on that date, and describes what they publish. If anything here has gone out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Looking for a Point of Rental alternative? What usually matters

HireLogic is rental management software for independent rental businesses that want published pricing and guided onboarding included in the subscription.

Point of Rental has been in rental software for decades — the company says 40+ years — and the shape of the company reflects it: multiple products, two North American tiers, a choice of deployments, and no published pricing. Choosing between it and HireLogic comes down to four practical questions: how you buy, how the product is packaged, who it is shaped for, and how you get started.

First, how you buy. HireLogic publishes its full price list: $125 a month for the base package including 2 users, $25 a month per extra user, $35 a month per optional module, with no long-term contract. Point of Rental publishes no prices at all — deliberately, as their own FAQ explains, because "our pricing is based on your needs" — so the route in is a booked demo and a tailored quote. If you want to put a number against your team size before talking to anyone, only one of these price lists lets you do that today — everything you learn about Point of Rental's cost, you learn inside their sales process.

Second, packaging. In North America, Point of Rental splits its rental management software into two tiers — Essentials, which in their words handles "the basics of rental", and Elite, their most full-featured product, available cloud-hosted or self-hosted — plus companion products for mobile and e-commerce; in the UK and Europe it sells a different product again, Syrinx 365. That flexibility is real, and it lands on you as homework: which product, which tier, which deployment — before you have seen a price. HireLogic is one cloud product on one price list, so the only decision is which optional modules you want.

Third, fit. Point of Rental positions Elite for complex, multi-branch operations, and its FAQ is explicit that the company supports businesses of all sizes. HireLogic is narrower on purpose: independent rental businesses — tool rental shops and equipment rental companies — with the counter and yard workflows that go with them.

Fourth, getting started. Point of Rental is demo-led, with training, consulting and events offered to customers; no implementation timeline and no data-migration service are published, so both are unknowns until you are inside their sales process. HireLogic is guided from the first conversation: onboarding, training and support are included in the subscription, the system is live in under 48 hours for a straightforward product list, and your import is reviewed before anything is loaded.

Our view, plainly: Point of Rental sells breadth — two North American tiers, companion products, a separate European product, decades of history. If you run a focused independent rental business, we think you end up buying company scale you will never use, at a price you cannot see up front. HireLogic is built and priced for exactly that business: one product, one price list, live in under 48 hours.

  • One published price list: $125 a month including 2 users, extra users $25, modules $35
  • One cloud product — no tier or deployment decision to make
  • Built for independent tool and equipment rental businesses
  • Guided onboarding — live in under 48 hours, with training and support included
  • Accounting integrations with QuickBooks, Xero and Sage 50 in the base package

Feature comparison: what each company publishes

Point of Rental's functionality differs by tier, so every cell below names the tier its source page describes. Where their pages do not state something, the cell says so — "not published" is a statement about their website on the date below, not a claim the capability does not exist. Their feature depth beyond what is published sits behind the demo, like their pricing.

Online bookings & e-commerce storefront

HireLogic

Optional e-commerce module, $35 a month plus a one-time $350 setup: an integrated website with 24/7 online bookings, a customer portal for account management, and instant booking confirmations.

Point of Rental

Published for both tiers: an "SEO-friendly storefront" where customers "book rentals 24/7"; Elite adds a branded customer portal and realtime availability. No price published.

Inventory & asset tracking

HireLogic

Included as standard: inventory and asset tracking, alongside bookings and scheduling.

Point of Rental

Published for both tiers: the Essentials page lists "real-time inventory tracking, kits, upselling, subrentals" and tracking of purchase orders and sale items; Elite extends the same to parts.

Rental contracts & paperless documents

HireLogic

Included as standard: rental contract management, with contracts raised from the booking.

Point of Rental

Published for both tiers: damage waivers, contract signatures, secure payment details and stored certificates of insurance.

Invoicing & payments

HireLogic

Included as standard: rental and consumable invoicing plus payment links, so the invoice and the payment request go out together.

Point of Rental

Published for both tiers: automated invoicing and payment tracking, long-term and continuation billing, and payments by cash, credit or invoice.

Accounting integrations

HireLogic

Included as standard: QuickBooks, Xero and Sage 50.

Point of Rental

Published: QuickBooks Online and Sage are named on both tier pages; the pricing FAQ adds Xero and AccountsIQ.

Transport, dispatch & deliveries

HireLogic

Included as standard: transport management for deliveries and collections.

Point of Rental

Published for Elite only: dispatching tools with realtime truck, delivery and pickup tracking. Nothing equivalent is published for Essentials.

Workshop, servicing & maintenance

HireLogic

Optional workshop module, $35 a month: maintenance scheduling, job assignment to workshop staff, a parts database, and servicing and repair invoicing.

Point of Rental

Published in depth for Elite — work orders, parts ordering through SmartEquip, labor-cost tracking, automated inspections. For Essentials, the page FAQ mentions "maintenance tracking".

Retail point-of-sale

HireLogic

Optional retail module, $35 a month: a unified rental and retail checkout with an EPoS interface, barcode scanning and stock control.

Point of Rental

Sale items are mentioned on both tier pages ("from rentals to sale items"); no dedicated point-of-sale module is published.

Last verified: August 9, 2026. HireLogic entries come from our published pricing and feature pages. Point of Rental entries come from the Essentials and Elite product pages and the pricing FAQ on point-of-rental.com, read on that date — with the tier named wherever their pages differ.

Who Point of Rental are

The brand basics, from their own pages

Point of Rental is a US company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, with international offices in London, Melbourne and Johannesburg. Its company page tells the story of a journey "from a single rental store founded by NASA engineers to a worldwide software company", and its copyright line runs from 1983.

The company describes a community of 70,000+ rental experts and 40+ years serving 5,000+ rental businesses — their figures, published on their homepage.

In North America, the current product family is two rental management tiers — Essentials, cloud-native and aimed at handling the basics, and Elite, their most full-featured product, available cloud-hosted or self-hosted — alongside POR One for mobile, an eCommerce product and other companion tools.

The company also grew by acquisition. In July 2016 it announced the acquisition of UK-based Syrinx by Higher Concept Software — in their own words, "merging two industry leaders in rental management software" — and today its UK and European flagship is Syrinx 365, a distinct product offered in cloud and on-premise forms. So which Point of Rental product you would actually be buying depends on where you are; for a US rental business, the choice is between Essentials and Elite.

Where their own pages do not state something, this page does not either. Point of Rental publishes no prices, no free trial, no founding year stated as a fact (the "40+ years" phrase and the copyright line are their own anchors), and no implementation timeline — and its customer help center sits behind a login. That is the boundary of what their pages support, so this page stops there.

How we sourced this comparison

Last verified: August 9, 2026. Every claim about Point of Rental on this page came from Point of Rental's own website — its homepage, pricing page, Essentials and Elite product pages, company and contact pages, and its UK press-release and product pages — read on that date. No review sites, no directories, no inference.

We compare what each company publishes about pricing, packaging, fit, onboarding and features, and state plainly where the products are alike — Point of Rental offers cloud deployment and native mobile apps, and both products integrate with the major accounting platforms. This page does not claim Point of Rental is installed-only or out of date, because their own pages say otherwise.

The feature table names the tier on every Point of Rental cell, because their functionality is split across two North American tiers, a separate UK and European product and several companion products — a feature claim without a tier label is meaningless. Where their pages publish nothing on a capability, the cell says "not published": that is a statement about their website, not a claim the capability is missing.

Point of Rental publishes its own comparison pages about other rental software vendors. We have not used any of those pages as a source about those vendors, and nothing on this page relies on what any company says about a competitor.

The figures in the HireLogic column — prices, what is included, timings — come from our published pricing and feature pages. Where a HireLogic cell goes beyond those pages, it is our own claim about our own product, and it reads that way.

If you work at Point of Rental and something here is wrong or out of date, get in touch and we will fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Point of Rental cloud-based?

It depends which product. The tier they call "cloud-native", Essentials, is the one their own page says handles "the basics of rental"; their most full-featured tier, Elite, is "available in cloud-hosted and self-hosted forms" — so on Elite, cloud is one of two ways the product ships. HireLogic is cloud only: one product, in the browser, nothing to install and no deployment decision to make.

How much does Point of Rental cost compared with HireLogic?

HireLogic publishes everything: $125 a month for the base package including 2 users, $25 a month per extra user, $35 a month per optional module, and a one-time $350 website setup fee if you take the e-commerce website. Monthly, no long-term contract, prices exclude tax.

Point of Rental publishes no prices. Their own FAQ answers "Why don't you list all of your prices on the website?" with "our pricing is based on your needs" — every plan comes with at least 2 users and volume discounts are available, but the figure itself comes from a demo and tailored quote. That was the position on their site as of August 9, 2026, so a direct cost comparison is only possible after you have been through their sales process.

Which is better, HireLogic or Point of Rental?

It depends who you are. If you are an enterprise operation with branches in multiple regions, a preference for self-hosting, and a procurement team that expects a sales cycle, Point of Rental is built for how you buy. If you are an independent rental business, our view is that HireLogic is the better buy: you are not paying for enterprise breadth you will never use, the interface is built to be picked up without training, and you can see every price and judge the product on your own equipment without booking a sales call. We are biased — which is why the table above sticks to what each company publishes, so you can check every line yourself.

Does Point of Rental have a free trial?

Not that they publish. As of August 9, 2026, the calls to action across their homepage, pricing and product pages were "Get a Demo", "Book a Demo" and "Get Pricing" — no self-serve trial, no free tier, no card-free start. HireLogic starts with a demo on your own products, or you can begin adding products and customers yourself and a member of the team follows up within 24 hours to finish onboarding.

Is Point of Rental only for large rental companies?

No — their FAQ says Point of Rental supports businesses of all sizes, from growing independents to enterprise-level operations, with Elite positioned for complex, multi-branch operations and Essentials handling, in their words, "the basics of rental". The distinction is emphasis: Point of Rental spans that whole range across its two North American tiers, while HireLogic is built specifically for independent tool and equipment rental businesses and the counter and yard workflows that go with them.

Does Point of Rental sell the same product everywhere?

No. In North America, Point of Rental markets Essentials and Elite. In the UK and Europe its flagship is Syrinx 365, a distinct product offered in cloud and on-premise forms, which traces back to the company's acquisition of UK-based Syrinx by Higher Concept Software, announced on their own press pages in July 2016 as "merging two industry leaders in rental management software". So before comparing anything, pin down which Point of Rental product your quote — and any demo you watched — is actually for. HireLogic has one answer to that question: a single cloud product, the same for every customer.

Can I move my data from Point of Rental to HireLogic?

Yes. Products come in through an import template — we work with your export in whatever format it arrives and review it before anything is loaded, which is where mapping problems get caught. Customer records can usually be pulled straight from QuickBooks, Xero or Sage through the accounting integration rather than exported and cleaned separately. Historic transactions are rarely worth migrating in full; a clean start on accurate product and customer data is almost always the right call, with specific records handled selectively where compliance needs them.

We recommend parallel-running your existing system for a week or two before cutover, and our migration checklist walks through the order to do everything in.

How was the feature comparison put together?

Row by row, from each company's published pages. HireLogic's cells come from our pricing and feature pages, where every module and its price is listed. Point of Rental's cells quote or paraphrase their Essentials and Elite product pages, with the tier named on every line, because the two tiers publish different capabilities — Elite's pages describe dispatching and workshop depth that Essentials' pages do not. Where their pages say nothing about a capability, the cell says "not published": we do not claim a feature is missing just because it is not on their website. To get past "not published", you would need to ask them — which is also true of their prices.

How current is this comparison?

Every Point of Rental claim on this page was verified on their own published pages on August 9, 2026, which is the date shown under the table. Their product lineup and pricing approach can change at any time without notice — their site has consolidated product tiers before — so we re-check before republishing. If you spot something out of date, tell us.
